Take Time for Yourself

Even in the midst of a busy week, or rather especially in the midst of a busy week, we need to take time out for ourselves. Sometimes it may mean taking days off, but it can also mean taking moments out of your time when you are at work. Or, it could be taking a couple hours for yourself to engage in meaningful and nourishing activities.

This week, let’s look at how we can create time for ourselves and how we can make that time meaningful and nourishing.

The Idea of the Week

How do you take time for yourself if you’re busy with work and keeping up with your responsibilities and commitments? This 7-minute Verywell Mind article shares 7 Tips for Taking Time for Yourself, such as decluttering your schedule and learning to say “no.”

Tired of being tired? Rowena Tsai, in this 15-minute video, talks about deep work, how to do more with less, and staying productive in a distracted world. Sometimes the key to creating time for yourself is to perform deep work to create high quality and efficient work, and at the same time, creating a shutdown routine so you can embrace your downtime.

The Practice of the Week

In this 25-minute video, Dr. K from HealthyGamerGG gets a Haircut while giving Self-Care tips, such as ways to decompress and process after a heavy work day or how to figure out what you need to take care of yourself. One of the important pieces of self-care is being with yourself to learn how to take care with yourself and learn how you work.

Here is a bonus self-care tip that you can use as a journaling prompt: write down how you love to be loved? Which love language speaks to you the most? What actions or gestures make you feel loved?

Now, once you’ve answered those prompts, go and do those actions and gestures for yourself.

News of the Week

A friend and colleague wrote a great book for teens and parents of teens! Karen Conlon, LCSW asked us to pass this on and we can recommend it wholeheartedly!

🎉IT’S FINALLY HERE
AND YOU’RE INVITED!

📕 “The Teenager’s Guide to Adulting Skills and Life Hacks: Learn the Practical, Social and Communications Skills That Will Help Boost Your Self-Confidence, Manage Emotions and Increase Independence.”

♥️ One of my favorite things about this journey is having had my own teen daughter be a part of this project. She was both my most fervent critic and supporter, as she acknowledged that this is a book she “would actually read.”

While this book was written with teens in mind and speaks to them, I encourage any parent or adult who has a teen in their lives to check it out.

It is my pleasure to invite you to become a Pre-launch Reader/Reviewer and receive the book for  💯 FREE! In exchange, I only ask that you provide an honest review when the book launches on Amazon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ around December 15th (I will send out a reminder).
