The Idea of the Week
Grief is a personal experience that can manifest not only in our emotions and thoughts but also in our bodies. Our bodies can store grief, leading to physical tension, discomfort, sleep problems, or other physical or somatic experiences.
In this 8-minute article from Verywell Mind, learn What Does Grieving Do to Your Body? and how to cope with the physical symptoms of grief.
One way to cope with grief is through movement. As this 5-minute article outlines, movement can serve as a distraction, help you sleep, and give you an outlet for anger and other emotions. The movement brings you back to the present and grounds you in your body. This is a way to practice mindfulness, which helps manage stress, anxiety, and even grief.
Finally, in this 10-minute video, Natasha Sackey from the Grief Channel explains what might happen in a session of Dance Movement Psychotherapy, which is a practice that uses dance and movement to process experiences.
She explains that the movement can help find the pain in grief and express it without needing words. Dance and movement connect our body and mind. It unlocks the experiences stored in our bodies that our words can not access.
The Practice of the Week
Bring yourself back into your body with an Introduction to Grief Yoga, a 3-minute video. Utilize movement, breath, and sound to unlock grief and release pent-up emotions.
We invite you to take your journey further with our Flowing with Grief workshop on Mondays or our Conscious Connected Breathwork class on Thursdays.
These sessions are designed to help you connect with your body and breath. Learn breathing techniques that support emotional release and use movement to unlock your grief. Whether you’re new to these practices or seeking to deepen your connection with yourself, our sessions offer a nurturing space for growth and healing.
And for those looking for an immersive healing experience, consider joining our upcoming Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy retreat. This retreat combines the therapeutic benefits of ketamine with psychotherapy in a supportive environment, offering profound insights and transformational healing.
