We know that how what we are feeling physically effects our state of being mentally and emotionally. What can be a little harder to pinpoint but no less true, is how our our mental and emotional state can effect physical health. It is ALL so incredibly connected. This is why movement is such an accessible and useful too for us to keep ourselves grounded and present.

This week we are touching on the topic of movement. Why it is important, finding what works for you, and doing it with joy. :)

The Practice of the Week

Although this particular article from The NY Times was written at the height of the pandemic, it still holds true. Getting our bodies moving has tremendous mental health benefits. What happens to so many of us is that we think if we aren’t running miles a day or spending hours at the gym, it doesn’t count. This is here to remind us all that all movement counts. Whether we walk the dog, gently stretch before bed or have a dance party in the kitchen, it all counts!

The Idea of the Week

Dr. Wendy Suzuki is a scientist and an author who has taught at NYU and studied how exercise effects our brain. Have a listen to her TED Talk titled The Disruptive Power of Exercise

In there talk she mentions the practice of intenSati. This is just one of many practices out there that help create the mind body connection. If you wanted to see what it is all about, here is a quick 5 minute taste and a total mood booster.
