The Idea of the Week
First, let’s review: how do we check in with ourselves?
Answer: We check in with ourselves by mindfully engaging in self-reflection. In our previous newsletter (linked above), we learned different methods to check in with ourselves.
Here’s another question for you: have you been keeping a diary or journal?
This summer, we also learned the benefits of keeping a diary or journal, different journaling techniques, and journaling methods that don’t restrict you to only using pen and paper (newsletter linked above).
If you have kept a journal, let’s take a moment to acknowledge this amazing accomplishment! Woo!! Let’s keep journalling with the 8 check-in prompts we’ll share with you today!
If you have not kept a journal, but you want to, we have 8 check-in prompts to help get you started!
Note: You can check out our previous newsletters on our Facebook page!
Practice of the Week
Whichever method of journaling you choose, ready your utensils! Note that if you don’t want to journal, then alternatively, pause after each question and think about your answer. Remember to be transparent, honest, and empathetic with yourself!
This week, we’re sharing 8 check-in prompts regarding the topics we’ve learned this summer.
- What is something I did today to take care of my body?
- Imagine your body as your best friend, what would you say to them?
- How did I practice positive self-talk today?
- Regarding my social media homepages, which accounts am I following that truly inspire me?
- Which ones do I enjoy seeing on my homepage and why?
- Which ones do I not enjoy seeing on my homepage and why?
- Which ones am I following simply because they’re popular?
- How have I practiced self-discipline today? How can I practice self-discipline tomorrow?
- Have I procrastinated something today? If I did, what about the task triggered avoidant behaviors?
- Who is in my support system? Who can I go to for support?
- Whenever I start to feel overwhelmed by pain, regret, guilt, or despair, I will repeat this mantra: … (This is one prompt from the 21 Grief Journaling Prompts to get the Healing Energy Flowing.)
One check-in prompt we at Breathing Space like to use is: What is my win, or what is something I did for self-care this week?
What’s your win or something you did for self-care? Share with us over on our Instagram or Facebook page!
