About Me
Greetings! I appreciate your presence and bravery in seeking mental health support. I am dedicated to creating a secure and encouraging environment where you can feel acknowledged and understood. Together, we will cultivate the skills and strategies necessary to tackle life’s difficulties more effectively, while also enhancing your confidence in your inherent strengths and resilience.
Area of Focus
Anxiety and Depression: Whether it is life stressors, relationship issues, or other anxieties, I offer a variety of grounding and breathing techniques in addition to talk therapy. These techniques are used to help reduce overwhelming feelings, regulate emotions, and improve focus and awareness in the moment.
LGBTQ+ Cultural-Centered: Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community and being Chinese, I have faced discrimination, micro-aggressions, and bullying throughout my whole life. If you feel unseen or have been disrespected, I am here to help provide a safe, supportive, and open environment to help you explore those feelings.
My Approach
My approach to counseling is through individual or group therapy that focuses on trust, respect, and compassion. Therapeutic approa
We start wherever you are most comfortable starting and move at a pace that works for you to grow in a healthy way. We work together to create goals and objectives that align with your values and hopes. I support you in best way that I can as you embark on this journey of self-discovery and healing
Qualifications
I am currently working towards my Licensure and have a limited permit in New York. I earned my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Brockport, NY. I am part of the counseling honor society Chi Sigma Iota and have served as co-wellness chair for Brockport’s Nu Chapter. I am a member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association, NYMHCA and hope to continue in advocating for clients and other counselors in the best what I can. I work under the supervision of Meg Tobin, LMHC.
My Ideal Client
My ideal client is someone who is aware of feelings of distress or imbalance in their life but has the hope to work to understand and grow from those thoughts and feelings. You may be scared or confused about where to start and what the next move should be, but you are open to exploring new ideas and paths to take. You are willing to strengthen healthy relationships and be more in tune to your emotions, to be freer to be yourself. A person who wants to take a step forward in improving their mental, physical, and emotional health!
Personal Information
I am a recent graduate of graduate school and reside in central New York. I have a cute and sweet labrador retriever dog named Kelly who always demands food, kisses, and pets!
On my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, watching football and anime. I love writing, coloring, and anything to do with art and crafts! I find these activities often help me when I need a distraction or to calm my anxiety. I am also an avid tea drinker as that also helps calm my mind and body.
People who know me would describe me as ambitious, open-minded, and patient. One story I keep close to my heart and I try to pass along to others is the “Starfish Story” by Loren Eiseley. I find this to be inspiring and realistic for anyone who wants to make a difference. I also love the statements, “one step at a time” and “give yourself grace” as I find myself saying these in times when I get overwhelmed and stressed.
