About Me

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here, and I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to seek help. If we work together, my commitment is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel seen and understood. I’ll help you develop the skills and strategies to navigate life’s challenges with more ease, while building confidence in your personal strengths and resilience.

Area of Focus

I provide support for individuals navigating various challenges in life, including anxiety management, trauma recovery, grief/loss, life transitions, and relational stressors.

Anxiety can often feel overwhelming and debilitating, impacting many aspects of your life. Together, we will identify and practice reframing negative thought patterns and narratives which exacerbate anxiety, and explore effective coping strategies for regulating your nervous system and helping you move toward an experience of safety in your body and the present moment.

Trauma can leave deep emotional wounds that affect your relationships, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. Drawing on evidence-based therapies, I provide a safe and nurturing space where we can work through the impacts of trauma together. Through our therapeutic journey, we will uncover resilience, restore your sense of safety, and pave the way for personal growth and healing.

Grief and loss are profound experiences that can leave you feeling lost and overwhelmed. I offer a compassionate and understanding space for you to process your emotions, honor your unique journey of loss, and find healthy ways to cope with the grief. Together, we will navigate the grieving process, helping you find meaning, resilience, and the ability to move forward while honoring your loved ones.

Life transitions, whether anticipated or unexpected, can bring about a mix of emotions and challenges. Whether you’re navigating a career change or adjusting to a new phase of life, I am here to guide you through these transitions. Together, we will explore your strengths, develop coping strategies, and create a roadmap to help you navigate these changes with increased confidence and clarity.

Relationships are an integral part of our lives, and they can sometimes be a source of stress and tension. Whether you’re facing challenges in your romantic relationship, family dynamics, or friendships, I am here to provide guidance and support. Through effective communication techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and a deeper understanding of yourself and others, we can work towards building healthier and more fulfilling connections.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is person-centered, individualized, and compassionate. Above all else, my priority is to create an environment in which you feel accepted, supported, and safe to explore your experiences, your understanding of yourself and the world, and the change you hope to achieve as a result of our time together. I will employ more targeted therapeutic modalities, in accordance with the goals you have identified for yourself and my understanding of best evidenced-based practice for those identified concerns. Therapeutic approaches that I have experience with and utilize often include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy, and Spiritually Integrated or Transpersonal Psychotherapy.

Qualifications

I graduated from the State University of New York, University at Albany with a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2015. After completion of 3000+ hours of supervised clinical experience, I became recognized as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York.

My Ideal Client

My ideal client is someone who has the awareness and desire to improve their mental health and the overall quality of their life. They may initially lack motivation or the necessary skills for change, but they have a desire to actively engage in a collaborative relationship with me, the  therapist, and are open to learning and considering new perspectives.

While it is not a requirement for working together, the clients who report the most benefit working with me are individuals who are curious about or actively experiencing themselves as a soul or spiritual being, and who desire to share openly about their understanding of spirit and the unseen world without fear of judgment.

Personal Information

I reside with my husband and our two dogs in eastern New York, where we are fortunate to enjoy our quaint riverside property. I find a lot of joy in the simple things – walks in nature, listening to the birds, the feeling of sun on my face. I am a life-long learner and I am always finding opportunities to try something new. I enjoy reading, spiritual practice and meditation, and an ever-evolving list of hobbies. I have always had a very active and analytical mind, and in this regard found that traditional talk therapy was only helpful for me up to a certain point, as I was naturally quite skilled at analysis and self-reflection but still couldn’t seem to get out of my own way. The real turning point for me came when I began to strengthen my connection with other aspects of myself beyond the thinking mind, including both my body and my spirit, and through learning skills that supported me in feeling grounded and anchored in the present moment. In 2018, I completed Yoga Mandali’s 200-hour yoga teacher training, further strengthening my own knowledge of and lived experience with the power of the mind-body connection and adding to the toolbox of skills I am able to share with my clients.
