The Idea of the Week
Yoga is a great way to challenge yourself, but it should work for you, not the other way around. The practice should be adapted to fit your body, not you stretching yourself thin to keep up. After all, where’s the fun in that?
Chair yoga is one way to adjust the practice to your needs. This gentle form of yoga is great for older adults with limited mobility, individuals recovering from an injury, those with a chronic disability or physical disability that affects range of motion, and even for beginners looking for an easy way to start yoga.
The Practice of the Week
This week, we’ve curated 4 videos for you to practice chair yoga. Just follow along with the instructor in the video. The best part about chair yoga is that you can do most, if not all, of these poses in the office, too!
The first video is a 10-minute Daily Routine by Brain Education TV. This is great if you need a quick yoga session in the morning or during lunch break, and you do not have much time.
The second video is another 10-minute Chair Yoga Session to Boost Energy and Health. The instructor, Saurabh Bothra, begins by correcting your posture for the session and guides you through 17 poses and stretches in just 10 minutes!
If you have a bit more time, this next video is a 17-minute chair yoga session by Yoga with Adriene. Invite awareness into the body with this practice and activate the muscles along the spine for better posture and energy flow.
If you’re ready for a longer session, this final video is a 30-minute Chair Yoga Session for Strength and Flexibility by SeniorShape Fitness.
