The Idea of the Week
As you review the questions and reflect on your month, we invite you to journal your answers in whatever format feels comfortable and engaging.
Get creative! If writing on paper doesn’t work, try a different method, like doodling the idea rather than writing in words or talking into your phone on the notes app. Here are some more ideas for journaling (5-minute read).
The Practice of the Week
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the past month—the first month of the new year. Below is a list of questions from this 16-minute video: Start Fresh With a Monthly Review.
Let’s celebrate: What went well this month?
These could be your accomplishments from this month. They could also be happy or fond moments and experiences from the month. However big or small your accomplishments or experiences were, let’s celebrate them!
Let’s take notice: What did not go well this month? Where can I improve?
Laura notes that this section is not about beating yourself up. Rather, this section is aimed to help you address quick fixes. Over time, as you continue to make your monthly reviews, you may start to notice a pattern. Maybe something keeps popping up that needs deeper problem-solving and attention.
Let’s learn: What lessons did I learn? What challenges did I face, and how did I overcome them?
The lessons do not have to be Big Life Lessons. The lessons you learned this month may be small insights into yourself or your loved ones. You can then use those insights to cultivate the lifestyle and relationships and inform future decision-making.
Let’s set our intentions: What do I want to focus my attention on this next month?
First, it may be helpful to brainstorm everything you want to achieve in the next month. Then, review that list and highlight your priorities. If you did nothing else on that list, what would make you feel most accomplished?
