In previous newsletters, we've shared how engaging the senses helps ground us in the present. We've also shared steps to build your own sensory kits.

This week, we're revisiting our senses and building (or adding to) our sensory self-soothing kit!

The Idea of the Week

We receive a lot of sensory input all day. We may tune out most sensory input, or we may feel overwhelmed, tired, and foggy from sensory overload (when we receive more input than we are able to process). However, if we switch off our autopilot and learn to be present in the sensory experiences we can:

  • manage stress levels,
  • promote wellbeing,
  • manage brain fog,
  • improve self-awareness,
  • promote learning and memory,
  • boost energy levels, and
  • ground ourselves to the present.

In this 5-minute read, we’ll explore different ways to mindfully engage with our 5 senses.

Practice of the Week

Check out our blog post (a 6-minute read) to learn how to build your sensory self-soothing kit in 4 steps! We also share ideas that you can include in your kit based on your sensory needs!

  • Step 1: The purpose.
  • Step 2: The container.
  • Step 3: The items.
  • Step 4: The location.

Share your sensory kits with us on our Instagram or Facebook page!
